Shipping Policy
Rustic Furniture Tasmania creates custom, made-to-order Tasmanian timber furniture and joinery. This Shipping & Delivery Policy explains how we handle delivery, lead times and freight. Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).

1. Where We Deliver
-
We primarily deliver within Tasmania, including Hobart, Huon Valley and surrounding regions.
-
Deliveries to other parts of Australia may be arranged on a case-by-case basis, depending on the size and type of item and the freight options available.
-
At this stage, we do not offer international shipping.
If you are outside our usual delivery area, please contact us before placing an order so we can confirm whether delivery is possible and provide an estimate.
2. Production & Lead Times
Most of our pieces are custom built to order.
-
Standard lead times are usually 4–12 weeks, depending on the design, timber availability and our current workload.
-
Lead times may be longer during busy periods or for complex custom designs.
-
We will give you an estimated completion date when you confirm your order. This is an estimate only and may change due to factors outside our control (timber supply, weather, transport delays, etc.).
We’ll keep you updated if there are any significant changes to your timeframe.
3. Delivery Options
Depending on your location and the size of your order, delivery may be:
-
Local delivery by Rustic Furniture Tasmania – for customers in the Huon Valley / greater Hobart area.
-
Third-party freight carrier – for larger items or regional/interstate deliveries.
-
Customer pick-up – by appointment from our workshop in the Huon Valley.
We will confirm the best option with you when you place your order.
4. Delivery Costs
-
Delivery and freight charges are based on size, weight, access and location.
-
We will provide a delivery or freight quote before you confirm your order wherever possible.
-
Any tolls, ferry fees, special access equipment (e.g. cranes, extra labour) or redelivery charges may be passed on to you at cost.
For pick-ups, you are responsible for providing a suitable vehicle, restraints and protection for your furniture.
5. Access & Delivery Conditions
Please make sure:
-
There is safe and reasonable access to the delivery address (driveway, doorway widths, stairs, lifts, etc.).
-
You let us know in advance about any tight access, steep driveways, flights of stairs or obstacles.
-
Someone over 18 is present to receive the delivery and sign for it (unless otherwise agreed).
If we arrive and cannot complete the delivery due to access issues or nobody being home at the agreed time, a redelivery fee or storage fee may apply.
6. Inspection on Delivery & Damage in Transit
We carefully pack and handle all items, but occasionally damage can occur in transit.
-
Please inspect your furniture as soon as possible after delivery or pick-up.
-
If you notice any damage, defects or issues, contact us within 7 days with your name, order details and clear photos of the problem.
-
We will assess the issue and, in line with the ACL, may offer a repair, replacement or refund, depending on the nature of the problem.
Do not attempt to repair the damage yourself without talking to us first, as this may affect your rights.
7. Natural Timber Characteristics
We use real Tasmanian timbers. Natural features such as grain variation, knots, small cracks, colour changes and movement are normal characteristics of solid timber and not faults.
These variations are expected and are not considered damage or defects for the purpose of refunds or replacements.
8. Missed Deliveries & Storage
If:
-
You are not available at the agreed delivery time, or
-
Delivery cannot be completed due to access or other issues,
we may charge a redelivery fee and/or reasonable storage fees if we need to hold your furniture for an extended period. We’ll always try to work with you to find a suitable time.
